HOURS OF WORK: 30 hours pw (subject to review)
RATE OF PAY: To be discussed and negotiated at interview
JOB PURPOSE
The post holder will work under the supervision of the Compliance and Operations Manager to manage the service and the building, providing guidance and support to staff to ensure the provision of support services to residents with Enduring Mental Health issues. This support enables residents to achieve and maintain an optimum level of independence, whilst ensuring their health, safety and wellbeing.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
STAFFING
- To be responsible for leading, coaching and mentoring a small team of support staff, and overseeing support services to individuals with mental health issues living in their own apartments (Supported Living tenancies) within the Gedling Village Apartment block.
- To be responsible for the management of all staff, including rota system, training, development, supervision, conduct and performance, discipline and grievances, motivation and mentoring, and appraisal.
- To provide support and advice to staff in creating and reviewing robust personalised Support Plans and Risk Assessments for all residents including goals, activities, aspirations and contingency plans.
- Ensure keyworkers’ sessions with residents, focus on mental health insight, awareness and resilience, self-medication management, as well as coping strategies and self-management techniques.
- Where appropriate, ensure staff engage with residents on managing mental health, living skills, nutrition, assertiveness skills, confidence building, stress management and relapse prevention.
RESIDENTS
- To take the lead role in assessing new service users, liaise with professionals, other mental health placements and hospitals, and prepare Support Plans for individuals prior to admission to Gedling Village Apartments.
- To conduct introductory visits for new residents, and facilitate structured move-in plans with new residents.
- To identify and develop new business sources, assess individuals’ suitability and grow the business.
- To ensure that residents achieve their goals and aspirations through individual key work, targeted interventions and person centred planning, using a flexible approach allowing residents some choice in whom they would like to support them.
- Support residents gain and/or maintain independence through:
- Improving their skill base i.e. IT skills, CV writing, online applications, shopping online
- Providing advice on benefits, tenancy rights, or signposting
- Facilitating access to training and/or employment, and providing support through the early stages
- Where appropriate, organise activities and events for residents.
GENERAL DUTIES
- Overall responsibility for the success of Gedling Village Apartments in respect of key performance indicators, staffing, quality, security, delivery of service and development of new business.
- Develop and maintain effective and appropriate communications with line manager, staff and through reports, and ensure information is cascaded appropriately always.
- Promote, monitor and maintain health and safety and security in the workplace and ensure the building is safe and secure.
- Work in a way that ensures the service is delivered in compliance with all relevant legislation, Pearlcare’s values, policies, procedures, practices and contractual requirements.
