Annual Christmas cake competition – across all our care homes!

Dec 21, 2025

It’s the most important time of the year again, the annual Christmas cake making competition.

This year, it involves all the homes across Pearlcare. The rivalry was intense and the competition was fierce.

Staff, residents and volunteers across all our homes, donned their aprons, dusted off the icing sugar and set to work creating wonderfully imagined cakes. We’ve seen The Grinch, Father Christmas down the chimney and even one home submitting two cakes at once – We dont condone bribery, but they sure were delicious!

Not to be outdone, there were some more traditionally festive themed submissions and they were brillaintly created too. With a gorgeous Christmas setting and their added (we found out to our cost, not icing sugar!) wreath, a beauitfully shaped Christmas tree, really thinking outside the box there. Followed by a couple of entries with such magnificent detail, they were more like works of art. As I am sure you will appreciate below.

The fab four being revealed next are so wonderfully crafted and executed, it seemed a shame to eat them. But, I mean, we still did. From figurines, to skiing and snowboarders and even a buried St Nick. They brought smiles and laughter across the board!

However, just like the Olympics, there can only be one winner. The public decided, after much canvassing and (I’m sure) door knocking! That the beautiful cake submitted by the residents and staff at Brantley Manor, was the worthy winner for 2025. With beautiful trees, a house and a functioning train (maybe..) it’s hard to argue with that! Congatulations! Your prize is on the way – We hope you all enjoy it, you really deserve it.

I know plans are already underway from disappointed runners up, to make sure next year is their year! Thanks to everyone who particapted, volunteered and voted. It all contributed to making this feel like real Christmas magic.

Happy Christmas from everyone at Pearlcare.
