The Victorian home is made up of single rooms and a variety of daily living spaces and has been carefully planned to provide a safe environment that enables residents to walk around freely and safely. Residents have their own private bedrooms in which they can choose to decorate however they want. A number of the rooms have stunning views over the delightful gardens, which feature a comfortable seating area where residents can enjoy the picturesque surroundings.
Get to know Sophie Willis-Dixon our Care Home Manager here at Ladydale…
Length of time at Ladydale:
I have worked in care for 10 years which have all been with Pearlcare, I have worked at Ladydale Residential Care home in Staffordshire for 5 of those years, I started as a deputy manager and have been manager here for 3 years.
Qualifications &Experience:
I completed my NVQ level 3 in health and social care whilst I was working as senior care assistant and experienced several of the homes within the company, and I have now completed my NVQ level 5 management in health and social care whilst being at Ladydale residential care home.
My ethos as Ladydale’s Manager:
My main focus at Ladydale residential care home is of course ensuring the residents safety but most importantly their happiness, I am passionate about choice and peoples right to make their own decision whatever that may be, our residents at Ladydale are involved in all the decision making of the home, including activities, menus and décor, I take pride in the fact that Ladydale is extremely family orientated in the way that staff and residents present to one another and we are a very open and honest home.
Biggest achievements whilst working at Ladydale:
We have achieved several goals and outcomes whilst I have been at Ladydale, we altered the décor within the building and garden renovations, we have changed entire rooms into something else more useful, we received all goods from our last CQC inspection.
Ladydale won the Hidden Hero award with Staffordshire County Council during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was invited and attended an open day with CQC due to seeing our award and was able to comment on our home and how we look at the positives.
We were the first home in our local area to have a Pod installed to facilitate visits during COVID and received online appreciation for the support we have given our residents and families.
We set up a post card appeal for residents to be able to reminisce about their past holidays, we received thousands of postcards from all over the world and we were approached by BBC radio stoke to talk about the appeal, we still receive post cards to this day.

Some of our young people go to college, others volunteer in charity shops, some enjoy classes like boxing or social groups. Daily activities might include going to town to do a spot of shopping, heading to the cinema, bowling among many other things.
At The Dales downtime indoors is usually spent playing on the internet on tablets, watching Netflix, playing pool, games, chatting and socialising. Our residents at The Dales carry our regularly household chores such as making their own meals as well as cleaning tasks and laundry – all of course with the support of our full trained staff.
