The care home is made up of single rooms and apartments, all of which benefit from en-suite facilities, TV points and a call system. Private telephones are available upon request and residents are encouraged to bring small items of furniture to personalise their room.

A number of the rooms have direct access to the landscaped courtyard garden, which is fully wheelchair accessible and features raised flowerbeds and comfortable seating areas to enjoy the picturesque surroundings.

Length of time at Wellfield:

I took over the role of Home Manager in May 2024

Qualifications & Experience:

I have worked in the social care profession for over 25 years. I started as a support worker supporting adults with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour in a home in the community. This progressed to working with adults with epilepsy and then onto managing a rehabilitation unit for adults with mild learning disabilities and severe epileptic seizures. From there, it become the natural progression into working with the elderly, and eventually moving onto supporting adults with dementia. I have managed both small and very large residential and nursing homes.

My ethos as Wellfield’s Manager:

Be kind, Be honest, Be hard working. The elderly have so much to teach me and others working at Wellfield, that it is a complete pleasure and joy to come into work each day and spend time with the residents listening to their life stories. I have experienced the heartache of loving and losing someone with dementia and I am determined that the residents living at Wellfield have the best years of their life, regardless of the length of time they have left and are treated with love, respect and compassion. Each resident living at Wellfield is an individual with their own sense of humour and purpose and at Wellfield, we encourage and embrace that to the very end.

Daily activities play an integral part in life at Wellfield care home and whether socialising as part of a group or exploring a new personal interest, our dedicated Activities Coordinator works closely with our residents to organise a range of opportunities.

Musical performances, games afternoons and local outings are just a few of the regular activities on offer. Mealtimes are an important part of the day and we work hard to provide a varied and nutritious menu for our residents, catering for special dietary needs as required. We welcome family and friends at any time and our special facilities room offers a comfortable area to enjoy refreshments with loved ones.

We also have a wide range of services on offer including a visiting hairdresser, a chiropodist and a large print library, ensuring that however our residents wish to spend their time, they can do so in comfort.

Nothing is too much trouble for our highly skilled staff team and our flexible, personalised approach towards the care we provide ensures that a stay at Wellfield care home is a truly special experience.
