Get to know Jessica Frewer, our Care Home Manager here at Heatherside…

Hi, who are you?

My name is Jessica Frewer and I am the Care Manager at Heatherside. I have worked at the home for 15 years, having started my career here as a carer. Over the years, I have gained a wealth of experience and developed a real passion for creating a home where people feel safe, supported and welcome.

What are you enjoying the most, now you’re the Care Manager?

Being Care Manager means a great deal to me because it allows me to support both our residents and our team every day. I believe that great care starts with a happy and supported team, so I work hard to ensure our staff feel valued and empowered to provide the highest standards of care.

What is most important to you when it comes to caring for residents?

For me, it is all about treating every resident with dignity, kindness and respect. I want the people who live at Heatherside to feel safe, listened to and truly at home.

What are your goals for Heatherside?

I am always looking for ways to enhance the care we provide, help our team develop their confidence and skills, and ensure Heatherside remains a place where residents can live meaningful, fulfilling lives.

What makes your role rewarding?

No two days are ever the same, and that’s one of the things I love most about my role. Building relationships with residents and their families, supporting my colleagues and seeing the positive difference we make together is incredibly rewarding.

What values guide your leadership style?

Compassion, respect, honesty, teamwork and putting people first are at the heart of everything I do. I strive to lead by example, be approachable and always do what is right for our residents.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work, I’m a busy mum who loves spending time with my family and my dog. I enjoy travelling, baking and making special memories with the people closest to me. To relax and recharge, I go to the gym, enjoy long walks and am a keen Formula One fan.

Finally, What do you hope residents and families feel when they choose Heatherside?

I hope they feel reassured, welcomed and confident that they are part of a caring community where people are treated with kindness, respect and genuine compassion. Our aim is always to provide a warm, supportive home where residents can thrive and families feel involved and informed.
