Q

Get to know Nicky Parsons our Care Home Manager here at Heatherside…

Length of time at Heatherside:

I became the Manager at Heatherside in September 2020, although I have worked here for over 26 years, working every role within the home throughout the years.

Fun fact:

My parents used to own Heatherside, so I really feel like I have grown up in what is my second home!

My Qualifications:

I believe in always continuing to learn, no matter what your experience. I am currently studying my Level 5 diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care NVQ 2 & 3. I also have recently enrolled my staff on Adult Health and Social Care Apprenticeships Level 2 & 3 so they too can continue to learn and progress in their careers here at Heatherside.

My ethos as Heatherside’s Manager:

As a care manager I wear so many different hats and every day I am presented with new challenges. I have an absolute passion for quality care, I receive a great sense of satisfaction when I have been able to resolve an issue for someone, whether it is for somebody we support or a team member. As a manager I can implement and facilitate positive changes for people.

I have a strong team that keeps things running day-to-day but as the care manager I provide the overall guidance and leadership. I am there to support my care staff in the successful delivery of care to all of our residents.

Being a care manager is such a varied role but being well organised is one of the most important qualities as a manager. I can deal with pressure, change my plans quickly and juggle many balls.

Biggest achievement whilst working at Heatherside:

Probably the biggest achievement is getting through COVID-19!
