A Blooming Creative Afternoon at The Old Rectory Care Home

Aug 30, 2026

Residents at The Old Rectory Care Home recently enjoyed a wonderfully creative activity that brought together nature, imagination, and a touch of summer sunshine.

Using beautiful flowers carefully picked from the home’s garden, residents spent the afternoon creating their own unique handmade bookmarks. Surrounded by colourful blooms and plenty of chatter, everyone enjoyed selecting their favourite flowers and arranging them into decorative designs that reflected their own personalities and creativity.

The activity provided an opportunity for residents to spend time outdoors, appreciate the beauty of the garden, and take inspiration from the flowers they help to nurture throughout the year. From delicate petals to vibrant blossoms, each bookmark became a small piece of art and a lovely keepsake to treasure.

There was plenty of laughter and conversation as residents shared ideas, admired one another’s creations, and reminisced about gardens they had enjoyed over the years. The finished bookmarks were as unique as the people who made them, with no two designs the same.

Activities like these are a wonderful way to encourage creativity, support wellbeing, and celebrate the simple joys found in nature. Most importantly, they create special moments where residents can relax, connect with one another, and take pride in what they have achieved.

The beautiful handmade bookmarks are now ready to mark the pages of favourite books, serving as a lasting reminder of a fun-filled afternoon spent turning flowers from The Old Rectory’s garden into something truly special.
