October Brings Smiles, Celebration and Community Spirit to The Laurels

Nov 3, 2026

At The Laurels, we believe that great care goes far beyond simply meeting people’s basic needs. Truly person centred care means understanding each resident as an individual, taking the time to learn about their interests, hobbies, preferences and life experiences, and creating opportunities for them to continue living life to the fullest. Variety, stimulation and meaningful experiences play an essential role in wellbeing, helping residents maintain confidence, independence, social connections and a sense of purpose. Whether it’s enjoying a themed tea party, taking part in seasonal celebrations, spending time outdoors, welcoming visitors or simply sharing special moments with friends, every activity is designed to support residents to not just live at The Laurels, but to truly thrive here.

With all that in mind, October has been a wonderful month at The Laurels, with residents enjoying a fantastic mix of celebrations, special visits, seasonal activities and community events.

One of the month’s highlights was a delightful Mad Hatter Tea Party, where residents came together to enjoy delicious treats, plenty of laughter and lots of smiles. The event created a fun and relaxed atmosphere, giving everyone the chance to socialise and enjoy something a little different. Residents also joined together for a meaningful Harvest Church Service, taking time to reflect and give thanks during a lovely occasion that brought people together.

The home was also pleased to welcome Di and Bee, who visited on 12th and 19th October. Their visits were greatly enjoyed by residents and provided another opportunity for friendship, conversation and connection.

As autumn arrives, the home has been busy preparing for the changing season. While popular rickshaw rides have been temporarily paused due to the weather, everyone is looking forward to getting back out and about when conditions improve. In the meantime, work continues around the home, including roofing and decorating projects designed to keep The Laurels safe, fresh and looking its very best.

Residents have also loved seeing improvements in the outdoor areas, where gardener Ash has been working hard on the front garden. The seasonal planting and care are helping to create a welcoming environment and add a splash of colour to the home as autumn progresses.

Looking ahead, excitement is building for the home’s Halloween Party, with residents and staff preparing to embrace the spooky spirit and enjoy an afternoon of fun together.

The Laurels would also like to thank families for their continued support and generous donations. The kindness shown by relatives and friends helps make special moments possible and plays an important role in creating a warm, welcoming community for everyone who lives and works at the home.
