A Blooming Month of Fun and Friendship at The Old Rectory

Jul 11, 2026

June was a busy and enjoyable month at The Old Rectory Care Home, with residents, staff, volunteers and visitors coming together to make the most of the early summer season. Despite the ever-changing weather, there was plenty to celebrate and many reasons to smile throughout the month.

One of the highlights of June was our much-anticipated Plant Sale, which proved to be a fantastic success. Thanks to the generosity and support of everyone who attended, an impressive £462 was raised. The event brought residents, families and the local community together, creating a wonderful atmosphere filled with conversation, refreshments and plenty of beautiful plants.

Residents also enjoyed another successful Mocktail Day, which once again proved to be a firm favourite. These fun social occasions offer opportunities to relax, chat with friends and enjoy something a little different while making the most of the warmer weather.

June also saw the arrival of a new electric wheelchair, which will make it even easier for residents to enjoy trips into the local community. The new wheelchair will help support outings to local cafés, birthday celebrations and other special occasions, ensuring more residents can take part in meaningful experiences outside the home.

A particularly special moment during the month was the celebration of Norman’s 80th birthday. Residents and staff marked the occasion with a special lunch, creating lasting memories and ensuring the milestone birthday was celebrated in style.

When Activities Coordinator Sue took a well-earned holiday, staff and volunteers stepped in to ensure the fun continued. Residents enjoyed a variety of their favourite activities throughout the week, demonstrating the dedication and teamwork that helps make daily life at The Old Rectory so enjoyable.

As temperatures rose towards the end of the month, staff worked hard to keep residents comfortable during the warmer weather. Their care, kindness and commitment were greatly appreciated by everyone in the home.

As we move into July, we would like to thank our residents, families, volunteers and staff for helping to make June such a memorable month. From successful fundraising and special celebrations to everyday moments of friendship and fun, there has been plenty to look back on with pride, and we look forward to enjoying more wonderful activities together in the weeks ahead.
