As summer gives way to autumn, there is plenty to look forward to at Gedling Village Care Home this September. Following a fantastic August filled with outings, celebrations, community events and the hugely successful Summer Fair, our residents, families and friends can look ahead to another month packed with meaningful activities, wellbeing sessions and opportunities to make lasting memories together.
At Gedling Village, we believe every day should bring enjoyment, companionship and new experiences, and our September programme has something for everyone.
Looking Back and Looking Forward
August was a wonderful month across the home, with residents enjoying trips out, creative activities, exercise sessions, birthday celebrations, gardening projects, music and movement classes, faith services and social events. Our Summer Fair brought residents, relatives, staff and members of the local community together and raised over £678 to support future activities and outings for residents.
As we move into September, we are excited to build on that momentum with a range of special events designed to support wellbeing, encourage connection and bring people together.
Creative Paths Reminiscence Sessions
One of the highlights of the month will be the arrival of Creative Paths, who will be visiting Gedling Village for a series of reminiscence sessions on 4th, 11th and 18th September at 2pm.
These engaging sessions are designed to spark conversations, evoke cherished memories and encourage residents to share stories from their lives. Reminiscence activities are a wonderful way to promote confidence, social interaction and wellbeing while celebrating the experiences that make each resident unique.
We are looking forward to welcoming Creative Paths into our home and seeing the wonderful conversations and connections these sessions inspire.

Goosey Ganders Stay and Play
Intergenerational activities continue to be a firm favourite at Gedling Village and we are delighted to welcome Goosey Ganders for two special Stay and Play sessions.
Taking place on 8th September and 22nd September from 10am until 11.30am, these sessions will bring pre-school children into the home to spend time with residents through games, activities and shared experiences.
The joy that comes from connecting different generations together is truly special. These visits create smiles, friendships and heartwarming moments for everyone involved, whilst giving younger visitors the opportunity to learn from older generations.
Relaxation and Wellbeing with Hayley
Resident wellbeing remains at the heart of everything we do, which is why we are thrilled to welcome Hayley for a special Massage and Reiki session on 9th September at 2pm.
Many residents have already enjoyed relaxation therapies within the home, and this dedicated session will provide another opportunity to unwind, reduce stress and enjoy some peaceful self-care. The calming environment and gentle therapies support both physical and emotional wellbeing, helping residents feel relaxed and refreshed.

World Alzheimer’s Day
On 21st September, we will be marking World Alzheimer’s Day, an important opportunity to raise awareness and show support for people living with dementia and their families.
Throughout the day, residents, relatives and staff will come together to reflect, learn and celebrate the lives and stories of those affected by dementia. It is a chance to recognise the importance of compassionate care while showing solidarity with millions of people around the world living with dementia.
Tai Chi with Andy
Also on 21st September at 11am, residents will be able to enjoy a gentle Tai Chi session with Andy.
Tai Chi is known for promoting balance, flexibility, relaxation and overall wellbeing. The gentle movements make it accessible for many people and provide a fantastic way to support both physical and mental health. We are sure residents will enjoy this calming addition to our September activities programme.

Animal Therapy Visit
Animal lovers are in for a treat on 24th September at 2pm when we welcome a special Animal Therapy session to the home.
Animal therapy can provide comfort, companionship and sensory stimulation, while creating opportunities for conversation and engagement. Encounters with animals often bring immense joy to residents, and we look forward to an afternoon filled with smiles, laughter and memorable experiences.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
To round off the month, Gedling Village will be hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning on 25th September at 10.30am.
Residents, relatives, friends and members of the local community are invited to join us for coffee, cake and conversation while raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. These events are always a wonderful opportunity for people to come together, catch up with familiar faces and support an important cause.
Every cup of coffee and slice of cake helps make a difference.
A Warm Welcome Awaits
September promises to be another exciting month at Gedling Village Care Home, filled with friendship, creativity, wellbeing and community spirit. From reminiscing sessions and intergenerational activities to relaxation therapies, awareness events and fundraising opportunities, there will be plenty for residents and loved ones to enjoy together.
We look forward to welcoming families, friends and members of the local community to join us throughout the month as we continue creating wonderful memories together at Gedling Village Care Home
