We love keeping our community in the loop, so we intend to share more regular updates on life in our home – from welcoming new team members and celebrating our dedicated staff, to sharing special moments with our residents and progress on any improvements or renovations. These updates help families, friends and partners stay connected to what’s happening day to day, while showcasing the care, personality and pride that goes into making our home a comfortable, happy place to live and work.

New staff joining the team!
We’re absolutely delighted to share some fantastic news from our home – we’ve recently welcomed two brilliant new members of staff to our team! Sara has joined us on the care team, bringing compassion, energy and a real passion for supporting our residents day to day, while Chris has come on board in catering, ready to whip up delicious, nourishing meals that everyone can enjoy. Growing our team means even more care, support and great experiences for our residents, and we’re so excited to see the positive difference our new colleagues will make as they settle in.

Birthday celebrations!
Phyllis and Annie enjoyed truly lovely days celebrating their birthdays recently. Phyllis celebrated at home, surrounded by laughter, smiles and these gorgeous flowers. Whilst Annie wanted some outside adventure with a trip to Penny Farm. Fresh country air and a day soaking up the scenery, meeting the animals and finished off with a birthday kiss from one of the resident horses!

Exciting renovations underway at Knights!
We’re excited to share that our home is currently undergoing bedroom refurbishments, bringing fresh updates and added comfort for our residents! To make sure everyone continues to feel relaxed and settled, the work is being carried out slowly and thoughtfully, with minimal disruption to daily life. This careful approach means residents can enjoy the improvements as they happen, without the noise or upheaval of large‑scale works. It’s wonderful to see the rooms gradually transforming, and we can’t wait to reveal the finished spaces that will make our home feel even more welcoming and cosy.
Lift installation
From the 16th February, work to install a new lift at Knights will begin and will take around 6 weeks to complete. During this time, the home manager, Mary and senior Pearl care management will have comprehensive plans in place to keep all residents safe and happy.
What else is in the pipeline?
Future activities, developments and trips we are working on;
- Dementia choir open to the community, which will involve the building of several partnerships
- Spring fundraiser event to fund special projects and activities
- Regular visit from a trained pet with the charity Pets As Therapy
- Benefiting services for our blind and sight impaired residents (from Lancashire Libraries, N-Vision and the Royal National Institute for the Blind)
- Celebrations for the New Year of the Horse and Valentine’s Day
- Hands-on visit from Lancashire Wildlife Trust’s education team
- Trips to outdoor music events
- Spring group trip to Blackpool Zoo
- Taking part in our local beach clean-up walks
All exciting stuff, I am sure you will agree. If you have any questions about any of this, please speak to a member of staff at the home.
Dementia care
Finally, several relatives have mentioned concerns about their loved ones’ changing behaviour or wondered if there is some form of support for the challenges presented by dementia. We can recommend the charity Dementia Carers Count which provides free peer support, mental health support, specialized advice and webinars for people who have loved ones living with dementia.
