Q

Get to know Jason Hewitt, our Care Home Manager here at Brantley Manor…

Who are you?!

Hello! I’m Jason Hewitt. I’ve worked at Brantley Manor for over 10 years and I’m 43 years old.

Tell us a bit about how you started working at Brantley Manor

It all started for me right here at Brantley Manor in 2015. I initially joined the team in a part-time housekeeping role (15 hours per week) and progressed to housekeeping supervisor, a position I held for three years. During this time, I gained a thorough understanding of the industry rules & regulations.
In 2018, I transitioned into the maintenance department, where I learned the operational systems of the home and ensured the environment was maintained to a high standard. I remained in this role for two years before combining it with care duties, working in maintenance during the day and as care staff at night.
By 2019, I had progressed to Team Leader and after several years in that position, I was appointed Deputy Manager in 2022. I thoroughly enjoyed this role, particularly the opportunity to grow alongside our residents and become a meaningful part of their lives. I also developed new skills, including using the dedicated software and delivering medications safely.
I served as Deputy Manager until October 2025, when I was offered the position of Manager, which was an incredible opportunity that happened to be presented to me on my birthday, 3rd October, making it an unforgettable moment!

Wow! You’ve really done it all here and earned your stripes. What keeps you so motivated?

I am deeply passionate about Brantley Manor and the residents we support. I am committed to leading our team in delivering the highest standard of care possible. Being part of the residents’ lives and helping them feel valued, respected and at home is incredibly important to me and my team.

Where does that passion to strive to offer amazing care come from, do you think?

I grew up within the care system from a very young age, and this experience has shaped my desire to support others who may need additional help. Having witnessed many people struggle, I developed a strong commitment to making a positive difference in their lives.
I have since built a wonderful family with my partner, and together we have three children, two boys and one girl. I also adopted my grandson, who has lived with us full-time since birth. He is now three years old and thriving. My family means everything to me; they are my motivation and the driving force behind everything I do.

Thank you for sharing those personal details. How do you think that translates over to the care home environment you have created here?

Brantley Manor truly feels like a home away from home. We foster a warm, family-oriented atmosphere where everyone supports one another and communication is open and positive. Our activities programme is excellent, offering enjoyable and engaging experiences that staff and residents participate in together.
The meals are freshly prepared each day, with delicious home-cooked dishes and the desserts are especially popular! The food can be tailored to each individuals preferences and dietary requirements. Nothing is too much trouble.
The environment is loving, friendly and always welcoming to new visitors and families.

That sounds great, especially the homemade food! What else sets you apart, do you think?
