A Warm Welcome to May at Gedling Village Care Home

As we step into May, we’re delighted to share an update from Michelle, Home Manager at Gedling Village Care Home, reflecting on a wonderful spring so far and looking ahead to what’s to come.

Celebrating a Joy‑Filled April

April was packed with fantastic activities that brought plenty of smiles, laughter and special moments for our residents. From meaningful time together to fun and creative events, it’s been a joy to see everyone so engaged and happy.

One highlight was our Annual Easter Fair, and we’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and supported the day. Together, we raised £447.34, which will go directly towards funding day trips and outings for our resident, creating even more opportunities to enjoy time out in the community and make lovely memories together.

What’s Coming Up in May

May is shaping up to be just as exciting at Gedling Village, with a full calendar of events planned for residents, families and friends. We’re looking forward to welcoming Goosey Ganders, hosting our much‑loved Community Café, and taking part in Dementia Action Week from 18th–22nd May, with lots of engaging activities planned throughout the week.

We also have a Wine & Cheese Afternoon to enjoy together, and we’re especially excited to be hosting our very first Quiz Night, designed for families and friends of Gedling Village. We truly hope you can join us and be part of the fun.

Thank You for Your Continued Support

We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support of our residents’ families, friends and the wider community. It means so much to us and plays a huge part in helping Gedling Village feel like the warm, welcoming home it is.

Many thanks,
Michelle
Home Manager, Gedling Village Care Home

April Retrospective – Moments that matter

There has been a real feeling of joy and togetherness at Gedling Care Home recently, with residents and staff sharing so many special moments that have filled the home with smiles, laughter and warmth.
We were delighted to celebrate three very special birthdays, as Joyce, Margaret and Susan each enjoyed their own day in the spotlight. Birthdays at Gedling are always a time for coming together, and it was lovely to see residents sharing kind words, smiles and celebrations as they marked these meaningful milestones side by side.

Keeping spirits high and bodies moving, residents took part in a joyful dance class, with music setting the scene and everyone enjoying the chance to move, laugh and be part of something uplifting. The room was full of positive energy, showing just how powerful music and movement can be in bringing people together.
Creativity took centre stage during a relaxed craft afternoon, where residents spent time enjoying calm, mindful moments while chatting and creating together. These afternoons are about more than crafts — they’re about connection, confidence and the simple pleasure of doing something you enjoy with friends.

Easter brought its own share of happiness, with residents enjoying the excitement of opening Easter eggs, creating plenty of smiles and moments of delight. This was followed by Easter shopping, giving residents the chance to choose their own treats and feel part of the seasonal build‑up, making the celebrations even more meaningful.

Employee of the Month!

Alongside all the wonderful resident activities, we were incredibly proud to celebrate one of our own team members. Mihaela, a Senior Care Assistant, was named Employee of the Month for April. Mihaela’s dedication, kindness and commitment shine through in everything she does, and this recognition reflects the positive impact she has on residents and colleagues alike.

From heartfelt celebrations to shared laughter, creativity and staff recognition, it has been a truly uplifting time at Gedling Care Home — a beautiful reminder that it’s the everyday moments, shared together, that make our home such a special place to live and work.
