Across our group we have an array of great job opportunities and with a wealth of life experience – we are on the hunt for retired workers who would like to return to work! Take a look at Carolyn’s story, who came out of retirement to offer her wealth of experience at our care home Brantley Manor.
I retried from work to care for my husband who was terminally ill, our children had all flown the nest and when he passed away I realised that I was ‘home alone’. Having no one to talk to or look after anymore, my mood became quite low, so I plucked up the courage to apply for a position with the care team at Brantley Manor. I thought I would be considered too old, so I am grateful to Suzanne (the manager) for giving me a chance to show that I was still useful to others, and what a difference it has made to my life, being able to talk and interact with others!
I would encourage anyone who feels they have something to offer, to come out of retirement, and have the courage to apply for work in the care sector. After all, you have nothing to lose but everything to gain! Training is ongoing and advice and support is always there. I get immense pleasure and satisfaction from helping to care for others, and hope to be able to continue for as long as I can, being in a small cog in the big wheel that makes Brantley Manor the happy and special place that it is.
