Last week our care home Sandford revealed the grand opening of their very own Memory Lane! Philip Middleton from our executive team visited the home to cut the ribbon, alongside the residents.
We caught up with Sean our care home manager at Sandford so he could share with you all the story of Memory Lane..
“The Covid-19 Pandemic brought with it many challenges that Care Providers, the Staffing Teams and Residents never thought they would endure within our lifetimes and, now with the easing of Restrictions and the creation of Memory Lane is a strong starting point symbolising that we are moving back to a new level of normal within the Sector.
Our Dementia Unit at Sandford Care Home has seen some beautiful renovation work being completed which is positively touching on the lives of those who live with us. Memory Lane has been an idea for so long now and, with its completion, it is also supporting those who live with Dementia in reminiscence therapy and has proven to be a fantastic conversation starter.
It was important that the area was designed not only by the Management Team but, included the views and opinions of those who live within the Home. Our residents choose which shop fronts would be the most suitable and, everyone has commented on just how lovely the completion now is.”
