New residents safety and wellbeing during the Covid-19 pandemic

Feb 10, 2021

As ‘life as we know it’ has changed for most of us during this pandemic, one thing here at Pearlcare remains the same – our dedication to protect the safety and enhance the wellbeing of our residents, their loved ones and our staff and ensure our homes remain a happy, uplifting and safe place to live for our residents.

We have adapted fast during these changing times and will continue to do so

Throughout our homes; all staff wear PPE, we have state of the art testing machines electronic temperature gauge machine which includes facial recognition to ensure everyone is wearing a mask. As well as a state of the art decontamination machine that kills 99% of virus particles and bacteria. We have also created designated safe visiting spaces so that we can in some way open up our homes again so residents can see their loved ones, as well as ensuring they stay connected through video calls.

Whilst we welcome new residents into our homes and staff, the safety and wellbeing of all our residents (current & new) remains to be our number one priority.

Our steps to deliver safe care

It is understandable that choosing a care home for your loved one during these times can be daunting. We have created a straight forward, easy read guide to fully inform you with our new processes in place across all our homes to ensure everyone is kept safe.

The safe way to look around our homes – Book a virtual tour

You would never choose a home to live in without first viewing it, so we have implemented a ‘virtual tour’ option across all our homes. Whilst in the comfort and safety of your house, a senior member of staff will walk you round the home (using an iPad), answering any questions you may have.

To book a virtual tour contact your nearest care home give them a call and they will be happy to book a suitable time & date.

Welcoming new residents safely with our admissions process

We have welcomed many new residents throughout our homes during the pandemic, who are safely settled and feeling very much at home.

To enable us to do this we have a robust admissions process to keep everyone safe; current staff and residents and new residents. All new placements are required to undertake a coronavirus test before admission into the home and all new admission would be expected to self -isolate for the initial period of their stay with us. Pearlcare will support new admission to undertake a coronavirus test so as to make this as stress free as possible.

Safe visiting options throughout our homes

Ensuring our residents are connected with their loved ones is very important for their wellbeing. We have a robust care home strategy in place that is continually monitored by our Pearlcare crisis team, in line with the latest government guidance.

With all our homes having different layout, visits are taking place in many ways whilst ensuring the strictest safety measures are in place. This includes; dedicated visiting rooms with screens, custom built visiting pods and closed window visits.
