Get to know Erica Miners, our Care Home Manager here at The Old Rectory…
Who are you?!
Hello, my name is Erica Miners. I have worked in health and social care for 12 years, with 9 of those years spent as a Registered Manager.
Tell us a little about your career so far and how you arrived here
During my career, I have managed a range of services, including commissioning two new homes from the ground up and overseeing multiple services across East Anglia as an Operations Manager. These roles have given me extensive experience in governance, quality, safeguarding, dementia care and leading teams to achieve strong inspection outcomes.
What key factors & personality traits do you bring to The Old Rectory?
What I bring to The Old Rectory is a deep passion for delivering care centred totally around the people – That’s what it is all for. My approach is driven by the desire to make sure all residents feel they are treated with dignity, they feel safe, valued, listened to and most importantly – They feel they are home.
How does that attitude & passion translate to the rest of the home staff, do you think?
I am committed to supporting staff to grow in confidence and I’m always striving to help them increase their knowledge and skillset. I have and continue to be determined to create a culture where kindness, teamwork and accountability are none negotiable, allowing staff and residents to thrive.
As a person, I am warm, approachable and very work focused, which brings out the best in me and the home staff, which allows us to offer the best possible care for our residents.
When you’re not busy managing The Old Rectory, what do you do in your own time?
Outside of work, I love spending time with family primarily. I also enjoy walking, reading and of course spending time with my pets. These moments help keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of joy, connection and balance – values I bring into my work life.
Last question, before I ask you more about these pets! What do you think sets the Old Rectory apart?
What makes The Old Rectory special is its homely atmosphere and genuine family feel. Our residents enjoy meaningful activities, beautiful outdoor spaces, personalised experiences and support from a dedicated team who truly know them.
If I were choosing a home for myself or a loved one, I would want a place exactly like this—cosy, safe, compassionate and full of life.
