There was a real sense of excitement and community spirit at The Old Rectory on a late June weekend, when residents, families, staff and visitors came together for a special Plant Sale that celebrated not only gardening, but the creativity and talents of the people who call the home their own.

The home was filled with colour and warmth as visitors browsed a lovely selection of plants available to purchase. Alongside the plant sale, guests enjoyed taking part in a raffle and admiring beautiful decoupage creations lovingly made by residents.
What made the day truly special was seeing residents’ hard work and creativity on display. The handcrafted items reflected the time, care and pride that had gone into making them, and it was wonderful for residents to share their talents with others while enjoying conversations, laughter and the support of the local community.

Events like these are about so much more than raising funds. They create meaningful moments, bring the community together and give residents the opportunity to showcase their skills and interests. Throughout the day, there was a lovely atmosphere of friendship and togetherness, with visitors taking time to chat, browse and support the fantastic efforts of everyone involved.
The success of the event was a reflection of the caring and vibrant community at The Old Rectory. From nurturing plants to creating beautiful handmade items, residents played a central role in making the day such a memorable occasion.

A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone who attended, supported the sale, bought plants, entered the raffle and admired the residents’ wonderful creations. Most of all, thank you to the residents whose talent, dedication and creativity made the event possible. Their contributions transformed a simple plant sale into a joyful celebration of community, achievement and belonging.
At The Old Rectory, it is these shared experiences that make life so special, and this year’s Plant Sale will be remembered not just for the plants that found new homes, but for the connections made, the stories shared and the pride felt by everyone who took part
